The piezoelectric effect, discovered by French physicists Jacques and Pierre Curie in 1880, revolves around certain materials’ ability to generate an electric charge when subjected to mechanical stress. Piezoelectric materials exhibit this effect due to the uneven arrangement of their atoms in the crystal lattice. These materials can be natural, like quartz, or man-made, like lead zirconate titanate (PZT). These materials generate an electric charge proportional to the applied stress when they undergo compression or stretching. Conversely, applying an electric field to the material results in a corresponding mechanical deformation (known as the inverse piezoelectric effect). The heart of our Piezo 1000 generator is a quartz crystal, which responds to mechanical stress by producing an electric charge. Electrodes positioned on the piezoelectric crystal’s surfaces collect the generated charge. As wind flows over the generator, it causes the unbalanced propeller (or other wind-exposed components) to vibrate due to varying wind speeds. These vibrations transfer mechanical energy to the piezoelectric material-equipped board. The piezoelectric material converts these vibrations into electrical power. The electrical circuit then routes the collected charge, producing a usable energy output. Small wind turbines can integrate piezoelectric generators, particularly in areas with low wind speeds. These turbines supplement traditional wind energy sources and provide localized power. Larger wind turbines can incorporate piezoelectric materials directly into their blades. As the blades flex and vibrate in the wind, they generate electricity. We plan to use our Piezo 1000 generators in clothing, shoes, and accessories. As you move, the vibrations from your actions could power small electronic devices like fitness trackers or smartwatches. Imagine making the move on a girl and getting a spark in response!

The Piezo 1000 uses quartz crystals to generate electric energy. Wind waves cause vibrations in wind-exposed components, transferring mechanical energy to the piezoelectric material-equipped board. Clothing, shoes, and accessories can incorporate our Piezo 1000 technology, potentially powering small electronic devices.
